Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 30 July 2026
These Terms & Conditions are a general template provided for a small made-to-order business and are not legal advice. Please confirm the content with a qualified professional before relying on it, particularly if your circumstances change.
Welcome to SERF&TEIN. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of this website (the "Site") and any inquiries you submit through it. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. About us
This Site is operated by SERF&TEIN ("we", "us", "our"), based in Alberta, Canada. You can reach us at shop@serfntein.com.
2. The Site is for inquiries, not online purchase
Our pieces are handmade and offered on a made-to-order basis. The Site is a catalogue and point of contact: it allows you to view our work and submit an inquiry. It is not an online store, and submitting an inquiry does not create a binding order or contract of sale. Any prices, availability, materials, dimensions, or timelines shown are indicative and may change.
3. Inquiries and orders
When you send an inquiry, we will respond to discuss your interest, confirm current pricing and availability, and agree on details such as specifications, timelines, deposits, and delivery. Any resulting order will be governed by the specific terms we agree with you in writing at that time, which take precedence over these Terms in the event of a conflict.
4. Product representation
Because our leather, ceramic, and wool pieces are made by hand, each item is unique. Colours, textures, grain, glaze, and dimensions will vary from piece to piece and may differ from images shown on the Site, which are for illustration. Slight variation is a natural characteristic of handmade goods and is not a defect.
5. Intellectual property
All content on the Site — including text, images, logos, the SERF&TEIN name and marks, and the overall design — is owned by us or our partners and makers and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial browsing.
Product photography and the work of our maker partners (including but not limited to Mervyn Gers Ceramics, Nammu Ceramics, and Cape Looms) remain the property of their respective owners.
6. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Site lawfully and not to misuse it, including by attempting to gain unauthorized access, interfering with its operation, submitting false information, or using the contact form to send spam, unlawful, or abusive content.
7. Third-party links and services
The Site uses third-party services, including Web3Forms (to process contact-form submissions), Google reCAPTCHA (to reduce spam), and Google Analytics (to understand site usage). Your use of the Site in connection with these services is also subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party websites we may link to.
8. Disclaimers
The Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the Site's operation, accuracy, or availability. We do not guarantee the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on the Site, with its "last updated" date, is the current version. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta.
13. Contact
